This year’s Murphy Visiting Scholar & Drake Lecturer Colby Gordon will discuss “Trans Natures in John Lyly’s Galatea” on Wednesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. in Reves Recital Hall.

This year’s Murphy Visiting Scholar & Drake Lecturer Colby Gordon will lecture on “Trans Natures in John Lyly’s Galatea” on Wednesday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. in Reves Recital Hall. This talk considers all the ways that transness is 'natural' in John Lyly's 1588 Galatea, a play in which transition is proposed as a solution to both human sacrifice and climate catastrophe. Professors Hope Coulter and Ty Jaeger will lead a trip to Ireland in July 2023! This overview of Irish literature will start in Dublin and conclude in Bantry with the West Cork Literary Festival. Be on the lookout for application details and further info in January.
