Submissions are open for the 2022-2023 Hendrix-Murphy Foundation Student and Alumni Playwriting Contests. These contests are open to all Hendrix College students and alumni. First ($300.00) and Second ($100.00) Place Awards in each of two contests will be awarded, one for current students and one for former students. This contest is jointly sponsored by the Hendrix-Murphy Foundation and the Hendrix Department of Theatre Arts and Dance and will be judged by a professional playwright.
One winner’s work will be produced in our annual Playwright’s Theater this fall in a staged reading, with a cast composed of interested alumni and current students. An invitation to read at the production will be sent this summer.
Contests are limited to one submission per playwright. Submissions must be original and unpublished. Entries must not have been produced in any venue such as a reading or production. There are no restrictions as to subject or style. Please click here to read contest rules and review a style guide.
